1. Where? New York or New Jersey?
2. What type? (Money, Personal Injury, Insurance, Fraud, etc.)
· We do not take personal injury cases.
· Fraud cases are extremely difficult. (Transfer the call)
3. Did you receive a document called a summons (If defendant)
4. Make an appointment to come in and discuss anything further with the attorney. (If they have any documents relating to the case they must bring it to the appointment.)
5. How much – if money judgment?
Give attorney the above information to quote the client and to see if he might ask you for more information.
Ask soon as you exchange information try to persuade the client to retain our services by making an appointment.

Summons or Summons with Notice – Starting a court case and purchasing the index number
Answer or Verified Answer – opposing counsel or we need to submit an answer to OPA and file with the court after the summons has been served
Preliminary/Compliance Conference – usually scheduled to see if a settlement can be reached
Notice of Discovery & Inspection – obtaining information from opposing party
Bill of Particulars - obtaining information from opposing party
Interrogatories - obtaining information from opposing party
Notice of Deposition - obtaining information from opposing party
