This Road bicycle became my favorite and it is "THE BIKE". I have upgraded the components on this bicycle over the span of 18 months and yes, it does have the mountain bike shifters and derailleurs. The reason for this is the shifters and brake levels. I grew custom to the flat handlebars and using brifters made me paranoid that I was going to flip over again. This setup has lasted multiple round trips from Queens to Manhattan and did well in the round trip from Queens to Weehawken, New Jersey. It went through the NYC Five Boro TD Tour (40 miles) and the Tour De Cure in Long Island (40 miles) without any issues. The bicycle has multiple riding positions and relatively light despite all the added gear.
