The last time I had a bicycle, was in the 90's. It was a navy and yellow Murray that my father gave me as a present during a holiday. I only rode that bicycle a hand full of times as it was attracting people that wanted to borrow my bicycle permanently. To avoid conflict, I stopped riding.

In 2011, a group of friends started to ride bicycles again. I was looking for the most inexpensive folding mountain bicycle as the concept of storage and portability was very appealing. At first, I didn't really care about the weight of the bicycle since it was for recreational exercise. However, it was hard for me to catch up to everyone during the long round trips from Queens to Manhattan but the cheap bicycle proved to be strong and lasting. At one time, we rode for 5 hours+ even then, I had no issues running on stock tires and tubes.

This triggered my urge to move up to a hybrid bicycle. However, I was unsure how I would like the ride quality and ended up purchasing a used bike to test it out.
